FINANCING YOUR SOCIALLY RELEVANT FILMS
THROUGH WORKING WITH NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
Presenters: Laurel Adler and Ruhi Hak
Financing an independent film can be challenging. But if your project has a socially relevant theme, you might be able to obtain some financial assistance by working with a non-profit organization.
Seminar presenter, and NewsFest Co-Director, Laurel Adler, has produced numerous award-winning documentaries and a fictional feature film that received financial assistance through a non-profit partner. She has also written numerous grant applications for other organizations seeking non-profit funding.
Ruhi Hak has produced and directed numerous international award-winning films in cooperation with the non-profit organization, Hope B~Lit.
Laurel and Ruhi will discuss the processes they have used to involve non-profits and donors in her projects. They will also lead a discussion of the legal aspects of getting funding through non-profits.
This seminar is not for anyone who is looking for a way to funnel money through charities in order to get non-taxable income. It is for individuals who have a genuine desire to work with charitable organizations to produce socially relevant feature films or documentaries in an ethical and above-board manner.
